Onground Adjunct Instructor for EDUC 513: Social Studies Curriculum Development for Inclusive and Special Education Settings (Grades 1 - 6)
Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education, is looking for an adjunct instructor for the following course to be taught Fall, 2025, on campus.
Course: Social Studies Curriculum Development for Inclusive and Special Education Settings (Grades 1 - 6), 3 credits
Dates: September 3 - December 22
This course is scheduled to run Tuesdays, 7-9pm, on campus. Day and time is subject to change.
Course Description
This course provides the opportunity for participants to analyze and develop integrated curricula in social studies using a sociopolitical lens. Participants integrate knowledge from the five disciplines of social studies: history, sociology, political science, geography and economics into the design of a constructivist, inquiry-based social studies curriculum. The course explores ways children come to learn and care about themselves and others through the social studies. There is an emphasis on differentiating curriculum, including attention to diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and variations in development.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education or related field required. Doctorate preferred.
- 5 or more years of teaching experience teaching children in grades 1-6 from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Experience designing social studies curriculum for students with and without disabilities.
- Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferred.
Compensation:
$4470
