Job Description:

Job Summary:

The SVSU Department of Music seeks an applicant for a 1 semester temporary replacement to conduct the Concert Band and teach the Instrumental Conducting Course. The Concert Band is a non-auditioned band made up of music majors, minors, and non-majors. It performs one concert per semester. The Instrumental Conducting course is a part of a three-semester sequence of conducting classes within the music education major. Students will have had 1 semester of basic conducting before this course.

Time Commitments:

Both courses take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Instrumental Conducting 2:30-3:20

Concert Band 4:00-5:50

Concert Band performance is scheduled for April 23, 2026.

The expectation is for in-person, on-campus teaching

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in instrumental conducting or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience conducting college-level wind band.
• Experience teaching college-level, conducting courses.
