Description:

The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct position in Political Science. The Political Science Department offers a comprehensive political science undergraduate education, covering all main subfields of the discipline.

The position requires the teaching of an undergraduate course entitled The Constitution: Political Freedoms and Civil Liberties. This course covers civil liberties as the basic rights and freedoms (including speech, press, religious, privacy, and due process) that are guaranteed in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights by exploring Supreme Court cases and legal and political battles that determine the balance between liberty and safety.

The Adjunct Position in Political Science responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Teach the Constitution: Political Freedoms and Civil Liberties (3 hours per week)
• Additional student contact of a minimum of one hour per week for student assistance

Qualifications:

• MA in Political Science
• Demonstrated record of teaching.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate or PhD in Political Science
