Position Summary

The School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (SUNY), invites candidates who can enthusiastically inspire and engage real estate, architecture and planning students to learn by doing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should have the ability to teach seated or online courses in real estate -related disciplines or conduct research/service in support of the mission and vision of the school.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Real Estate Development, Affordable Housing, Real Estate Finance, Market Analysis, Construction Management, Real Estate Law, or Urban Planning or Architecture related to real estate.
  • Provides students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in subject area.
  • Evaluates students performance and provides effective feedback to guide student learning and success.
  • Responsible for contributing to and maintaining an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to conduct research or service in support of the mission and vision of the school.

This is a pooled posting, and positions are filled on an as-needed basis.

Note: For the 2026-2027 academic year, courses in the real estate program will be conducted in-person.

About the Real Estate Program

The Real Estate program at the University at Buffalo is the only real estate program in the SUNY System. Currently the program offers a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and a Minor in Real Estate and Urban Development. The Masters program provides a fusion of academic rigor and real-world applicability that not only positions graduates for success, but also underscores our commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders in the ever-evolving realm of real estate. Students explore complex trends including place-making and urban design, mixed-income housing and community development, suburban transformation, sustainable development, energy innovation and the effects of AI and other technology in the workplace. The newly launched Minor in Real Estate and Urban Development provides students with an introduction to real estate as an academic area of inquiry, and a possible pathway to SUNYs only Master of Science in Real Estate Development program.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in real estate development or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD preferred for doctoral-level courses.
