Base Salary $83,038 - $87,739 + 17% superannuation

The Daffodil Centre, a flagship research centre of the University of Sydney in partnership with Cancer Council NSW, is at the forefront of cancer control research, delivering evidence that shapes policy and improves outcomes worldwide. We are seeking a collaborative and team-focused Administration Officer to play a crucial role in driving the Centre's administrative goals.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the work area by delivering high-quality administrative and clerical support. As the first point of contact, you will help manage the flow of information, maintain accurate records, and support day-to-day activities that enable the team to operate effectively. Working under routine supervision, you will apply sound judgement to organise tasks, resolve minor operational issues, and provide advice within established procedures. This position is well-suited to someone who enjoys structured responsibilities, values accuracy and consistency, and thrives in a collaborative and service-oriented environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver general administrative and operational support to the work area.
  • Analyse enquiries and correspondence to prepare informed responses and recommendations.
  • Provide high-level administrative support including diary, travel and accommodation coordination.
  • Gather and organise data from multiple sources to maintain databases and prepare reports, charts and tables.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve facilities matters and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Administer purchasing, payments and invoice management while fostering productive working relationships across the University.

About you

  • Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma (Vocational Education) in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Well-developed numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive work environment, supported by experience in business administration.
