Position Summary

The School of Teacher Education (STE) is looking for a dedicated Administrative Support Coordinator I to be the welcoming face of our department and a key player in supporting our credential and Master's programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Front Desk Coordination: Greet visitors, respond to inquiries, and share department information.
- Administrative Operations: Process purchases, travel reimbursements, and create basic documents and reports.
- Event & Facility Support: Help plan events; manage space moves, inventory, and key requests.
- Technology & Website Maintenance: Track tech equipment and update the department website.
- Academic & Faculty Support: Upload syllabi, assist with RTP, and manage internal elections.
- Credential Program Support: Schedule interviews, send registration materials, and track student progress.
- Master's Program Support: Support MA advisors and coordinate surveys and compensation for guide teachers.

Position Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The School of Teacher Education (STE) has 16 tenured/tenure track faculty, approximately 80 lecturers, and approximately 1300 students in undergraduate, teaching credential programs and master's programs. The STE offers approximately 230 sections of courses each semester.
The unit is responsible for teacher preparation through state-licensed teaching credential programs, and graduate programs in elementary education, secondary education, and various other educational disciplines. The Liberal Studies Undergraduate Major is also housed in the STE. This major has over 800 students, graduating approximately 200 students per year. In addition, department faculty members teach in doctoral programs in the College of Education.
The department has close collaborations with numerous schools and school districts, and many programs and courses are held off-campus where our collaborative partners are located.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Key Qualifications
- Experience providing administrative or customer service support in an office or similar setting.
- Ability to coordinate logistics, such as scheduling meetings or arranging travel.
- Proficiency with commonly used office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar tools).
- Familiarity with online collaboration tools, such as Google Docs and Forms.
- Experience using online survey or data collection tools (e.g., Qualtrics or similar platforms) is preferred.
- Understanding of or experience working in mission-driven, educational, or public service environments is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
CSUEU Salary
Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department's budget and equity guidelines.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($4,047).
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,047 - $5,896 per month (Step 1 - Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
