This is a full-time position based on the Manawatū campus.
The Purpose of This Role – The Challenge You’ll Help Solve
The VC & Provost departments rely on timely, accurate, and well-coordinated administrative support to operate efficiently. The team ensures that leaders and staff receive seamless, reliable service that enables them to focus on strategic and academic priorities. As an Administrator, you will play a central role in solving this challenge—bringing structure, clarity, and consistency dayto-day operations and contributing to improving the systems that support the University’s leadership teams. This isn’t just about how we do what we do, but why we do what we do.
Your Autonomy – Decisions You Will Own
In this role, you will have clear responsibility and decision-making authority over:
• Managing your own workload and prioritising tasks across multiple stakeholders. • Coordinating administrative requirements and taskings and ensuring they are completed accurately and on time. • Identifying inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing refined processes once agreed. • Managing information flow—deciding what requires escalation, what can be resolved independently, and what needs clarification. While you will work collaboratively, you will also be trusted to take initiative and exercise sound judgement in your daily decision-making.
Success After Six to Twelve Months – What Mastery Looks Like
A successful Administrator in this position will, within their first year: • Have developed strong working relationships with colleagues across both areas • Be confidently using all relevant University systems and tools • Demonstrate consistent reliability in delivering high-quality administrative support with minimal oversight. • Contribute to measurable improvements in processes, documentation, communication flow, or service efficiency. • Be recognised as a trusted, knowledgeable, and proactive team member
Your growth will be visible not only in what you accomplish independently, but also in the impact your work has on the broader team
The Support You Will Receive
You will be joining a team committed to collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and professional development. Support includes: • A structured induction with hands-on training in all University-specific systems. • Access to experienced colleagues who will guide and work in collaboration with you. • Access to support for continuous improvement, professional growth, and open communication. • A strong team culture that fosters mutual support, shared problemsolving, and collective success. • Opportunities to expand your skills and learn new technologies relevant to business administration.
You will never be expected to navigate challenges alone; support is embedded in how this Hub operates.
The salary for this position will depend on skills and experience but will be in the range of Grade 4 ($51,554 - $75,351).
