Position Details

The Admissions Transition Manager will work closely with the Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management to develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive admissions strategy designed to attract and enroll qualified students, including those who may be eligible or who are participating in the New York State Opportunity Promise (NYSOP) initiative. This strategic state initiative (NYSOP) is designed to increase college degree attainment among adult learners ages 25-55, particularly those with some college, but no degree. Reporting directly to the Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management, the Admissions Transition Manager will spearhead the transition and support of students through the admissions, enrollment, and onboarding process, with special focus on adult learners eligible for and/or participating in the NYSOP initiative. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and refine strategic initiatives targeting adults ages 25-55 with some college credit but no degree, with measurable outcomes for enrollment and completion.
  • Work closely with other departments campus wide to align processes with university policies and to ensure that NYSOP initiatives are seamlessly integrated with general enrollment practices.
  • Work closely with Financial Aid, Advising, Career Services and Counseling to streamline support services for NYSOP students in addition to general admission students.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs and services that support successful transition, retention and completion of adult learners.
  • Develop and implement NYSOP policies, procedures, and practices in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring that initiatives support the College’s strategic objectives and address the unique needs of NYSOP participants.
  • Provide quality customer service including responding to inquiries, scheduling campus visits, and providing accurate and comprehensive information regarding academic programs, student support services, university policies, and NYSOP-related offerings and eligibility criteria.
  • Update and maintain the Admissions and Recruitment website, ensuring that information posted (including NYSOP-related information) is current and accessible.
  • Review applications and make admission determinations following established policies, procedures, incorporating specific considerations for NYSOP qualified applicants.
  • Analyze admissions data to identify trends and areas for improvement with a focus on assessing the effectiveness of NYSOP initiatives. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for executive leadership to make well-informed strategic decisions.
  • Utilize systems such as CUNYfirst and Slate CRM to counsel prospective applicants through the admission and enrollment process, ensuring that those interested in NYSOP receive comprehensive support and guidance.
  • Plan and manage enrollment sessions-including open houses, information sessions, campus tours, and NYSOP-specific orientation events (both virtual and in-person)-to attract and engage prospective students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Serve as a liaison for community-based organizations by facilitating the enrollment process for their students, thereby ensuring smooth communication and collaboration to expand outreach to NYSOP-eligible populations.
  • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems under the direction of the Director of Admissions. This involves refining data collection and follow-up processes that are critical for tracking NYSOP applicants.
  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall campus community and ensuring robust on-campus support for both general enrollment and NYSOP operations.
  • Essential duties require in-person work.
