Job Description
Position Purpose
Provide comprehensive academic, special program, and transfer advising to prospective, new, transfer, enrolled, and adult learner students at Century College.
Guide applicants through the admissions, orientation, and registration processes to support a seamless transition to the college.
Evaluate and determine the transferability of credits and maintain accurate transfer articulations in uAchieve.
Perform related duties and initiatives that promote student engagement, retention, and overall success.
Position Responsibilities
Evaluate incoming transcripts to determine course equivalencies and ensure accurate reflection of transfer credits in uAchieve. They resolve transfer-related issues affecting program completion and graduation, while monitoring student progress toward degree completion. This role also involves developing, communicating, interpreting, and implementing academic policies, processes, and procedures in collaboration with Century College and Minnesota State to ensure consistency and fairness.
Provide comprehensive advising services to new transfer students and currently enrolled students, offering information and resources to assist with program and major selection, curriculum planning, admissions, and enrollment procedures, including guidance on Minnesota State eTranscripts and degree residency requirements. This position interprets institutional, state, and federal policies and guidelines, translating them into effective advising procedures and resolving any inconsistencies. Maintains a thorough understanding of college programs, curricula, and services to ensure accurate information is provided to prospective transfer students. Facilitate the use of Student Affairs resources, eServices, online tools such as uAchieve, mntransfer.org, and Transferology, as well as articulation agreements and academic or career planning materials. Additionally, counsel students on placement testing, including test information, interpretation of results, and course prerequisites; assist with special program application processes; designs, directs, and implement advising processes, resources, and special projects that promote student achievement, retention, persistence, and goal attainment.
Salary Range: $23.98 - $34.69/hour (DOQ – Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in student records, registration, transfer, academic advising or enrollment services in a college or university setting.
Demonstrated proficiency with student information systems or other database platforms, Microsoft Office applications, document imaging systems, and knowledge databases.
Strong attention to detail.
High-level critical thinking skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
Ability to exercise strong human relations skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, often with limited direct supervision.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor’s degree/equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of four years’ experience working with students in a post-secondary setting.
Experience with ISRS or similar student information system.
Experience with TES, Transferology, uAchieve, Perceptive Content or similar systems.
