Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Creative Arts, which houses the Design program at Wheaton College, seeks an instructor to teach Graphic Design 2 for the Spring semester. The course is scheduled to run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:20 from January 20-May 1 2026 and is enrolled with about ten students.

Course Description

Graphic Design 2 is the second part of a year-long course exploring a problem-solving approach to graphic design, with a major focus on the concept of design as visual communication. You will be challenged to arrive at original solutions in the context of more comprehensive problems expanding on the principles of typography, layout and visual imagery learned in Graphic Design I. Prerequisites for this course are Art 111: Two-Dimensional Design and Art 250: Graphic Design I.

• Students in GD2 have prior experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, at a minimum.

Minimum Qualifications

MFA or MDes in Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, or a related major and 2+ years professional experience or a BFA in Graphic Design and 4+ years of professional design experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
