Position Overview

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Dean of Students for the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (DCOM) at the Harrogate campus. The Assistant/Associate Dean of Students serves as a key leader in fostering an educational environment that supports academic success, personal well-being, and professional development for students enrolled in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program.

This senior administrator provides vision, direction, and oversight for a comprehensive suite of student services and initiatives designed to promote student success at every stage of the medical education journey. The Dean of Students works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and institutional leadership to foster a culture of professionalism, engagement, inclusion, and academic excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant/Associate Dean of Students will:

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for student support services, academic success initiatives, wellness programming, and student engagement functions.
• Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring they have access to resources that support their academic, emotional, and professional development.
• Develop, assess, and enhance programs that promote retention, progression, and overall student success.
• Identify and address both academic and non-academic barriers to performance, including oversight of remediation and success planning.
• Foster a positive and professional learning environment that reflects the values of osteopathic medicine and LMU’s mission.
• Respond to student concerns with discretion, compassion, and professionalism, including involvement in crisis response and conduct matters as needed.
• Collaborate closely with faculty leadership, academic affairs, and the student services team to maintain a supportive and student-centered culture.
• Contribute to DCOM’s strategic planning efforts to strengthen the student experience and overall program quality.

Required Qualifications

• Terminal degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in student services, student success, student life, counseling, academic support, or related work.
• Previous academic and administrative experience, preferably in a higher education or graduate/professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a professional medical program (DO, MD, PA, PT, etc.).
• Demonstrated leadership in student success, crisis response, academic remediation, or wellness programming.
• Proven ability to support a diverse student population in a high-intensity academic environment.
