Overview
The Auburn University at Montgomery, College of Business, Department of Information Systems, invites applications to fill an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Management Information Systems with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in business. Full Professor candidates who have tenure at a different institution can be considered for tenure at time of hire. The position is a 9-month, tenure-track position with a usual course load of six courses per academic year. The department is seeking qualified individuals to teach a variety of AI-specific courses which may include algorithms for supervised and unsupervised learning, data preparation, neural networks to include feed-forward, CNNs, and RNNs, Generative AI to include prompt engineering, transformers, and attention blocks. While these technical areas are of particular need, the ability to teach students to evaluate opportunities and productization based on AI technologies, manage data, visualize data, select appropriate platforms, and lead efforts in the field is key.

The Department of Information Systems is part of the College of Business which is AACSB accredited. The Information Systems faculty members are responsible for the undergraduate (BSBA IS) and graduate (MS MIS) degree programs in Management Information Systems and a new program in AI (MSAI). Coursework and research interests span the traditional areas of Information Systems as well as newly formed courses in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and analytics. The department is actively developing an additional focus on cybersecurity. Recently, the department opened the Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory to serve student and faculty research campus-wide as well as support off-campus clients with high-impact research endeavors. AUM is a part of Auburn University with approximately 5,200 students and 200 faculty in five academic colleges: Business, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Nursing and Health Sciences, Sciences, and Education. AUM is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the bachelor's, master's, and specialist degrees as well as the joint and cooperative doctoral degrees with Auburn University.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include Ph.D. or equivalent in Information Systems or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education, qualifying the candidate as a Scholarly Academic by AACSB standards by time of appointment; a record of scholarly activity; a record of effective teaching using a variety of methods; and teaching experience at the college. Ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of the classical fields within the department.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be expected to teach both traditional graduate and undergraduate courses, including online courses. The primary responsibility of this position is excellent teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with a load of three courses per fall and spring semesters. Successful candidates will work professionally and collegially with the department chair and faculty as well as have experience working with a diverse population of students.
