Position title: Thoracic Organ Procurement and First Assistant Surgeon Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $450,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/divisions/cardiothoracic), within the Department of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are recruiting a faculty member to serve as a thoracic organ procurement and first assistant surgeon in our fast-growing, multidisciplinary program. This full-time faculty position will be appointed at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Candidates with a strong interest in education and academic medicine are encouraged to apply.
The Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery provides patient care at the Cardiovascular Institute, located on its main campus in La Jolla, California. The program has had exponential growth over the last decade and is recognized as a national and international leader in the field of cardiovascular disease. Our team is comprised of outstanding faculty and staff dedicated to patient care, education, research, and quality initiatives.
The selected candidate will serve as a thoracic organ procurement and first assistant surgeon in all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery within the Cardiovascular Institute. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality training and teaching, and will actively participate in the clinical care of patients and/or research initiatives.
The appropriate series and appointment level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD, DO, or an equivalent degree.
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Thoracic Surgery or a closely related specialty.
Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
