Description

The School of Education seeks a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of K-12 Educational Leadership to teach primarily within the Masters of School Leadership (MASL) program. The individual hired for this position will be appointed to the Department of Educational Leadership and will teach and supervise clinical experiences in the department's school leadership programs.

Responsibilities

Clinical faculty loads in the School of Education are predominantly teaching. This position has a 90% time/effort allocation for teaching and clinical supervision and a typical semester will entail a four-course teaching/supervision load. This position also includes a 10% time/effort allocation for external scholarly engagement (i.e., scholarship and external contributions to the profession). Criteria for annual reviews and evaluations toward promotion will be assessed in relation to these effort allocations.

  • Teaching courses in the department's K-12 leadership programs and supervising interns in their clinical K-12 school placements.
  • Instructional leadership (as assigned) to:
    • Help administer the department's leadership preparation programs
    • Facilitate productive relationships with local school partners
    • Mentor and/or support adjunct faculty learning to teach and/or supervise in preparation-12 leadership programs
  • Directing all clinical aspects of the MA in School Leadership program
  • Supervising interns and establishing school and district partnerships and placements
  • Participating in individual and collaborative activities to secure external funding;
  • Recruiting and advising students
  • Providing service to the department, university, and the profession.

Salary and Beginning Date

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is subject to negotiation with a preferred start in January 2026.

The Department of Educational Leadership offers graduate programs in higher education, PK-12 leadership, and sport management. These programs include Masters of Art in School Leadership; Masters of Education degrees in Higher Education and Student Affairs, and Sport Management; a PhD and EdD in PK-12 Educational Leadership; and a PhD in Higher Education Studies and Leadership, as well as a Leadership Minor. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree in Education (EdD or PhD)
  • Demonstrated success working with public and/or private schools
  • Experience working with state certification requirements and supervision
  • Commitment to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty, students, and staff in teaching and clinical settings
  • Evidence of significant educational leadership experience in PK-12 school systems as a teacher, principal, director, superintendent, university administrator, or a combination of experiences
  • Expertise in key academic area(s) that enhance the department's academic programming (e.g., school law and governance; school administration; administrative theory and educational leadership; school business management and finance).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching
  • Demonstrated success in the evaluation of education problems at all levels of the education system--schools, districts, universities and colleges, state and federal agencies
  • Demonstrated success in supervision of educators and program development
  • Knowledge of current state and federal leadership standards and certification requirements and
  • Understanding of public and private school challenges and opportunities.
