Position Description

Professor Jingshen Wang, located at the University of California, Berkeley's School of Public Health, is seeking a motivated Assistant or Associate Project Scientist to join the Division of Biostatistics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of statistics, neuroscience, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and aging research.

The successful candidate will contribute to a research program aimed at understanding the causal relationships between Alzheimer's disease pathologies—including amyloid, tau, neurodegeneration, and cognition—and describing the heterogeneity in these relationships across individuals and disease stages using novel ML/AI methods.

The Assistant/Associate Project Scientist will play a key role in designing and implementing statistical and machine learning models using large, multimodal datasets, while also contributing to supervision, collaboration, and research funding efforts within a dynamic and supportive academic environment.

Duties of the Position:

  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the candidate will design and conduct original research projects on Alzheimer's disease and brain aging.
  • Apply advanced statistical and machine learning methods to neurobiological and clinical data.
  • Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Develop competitive grant applications and contribute to team-based funding efforts.
  • Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and external research partners.
