Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for an Assistant Bursar who will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of Rider University, with a primary focus on student billing, receivables, and collections. This position ensures accurate financial transactions and compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. The Assistant Bursar also serves as a liaison between students, families, and various university departments to support financial transparency and customer service excellence.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 4-5 years of experience in a university bursar, finance, or student services office.
- Proficiency with student information systems (e.g. Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Touchnet) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communications, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive financial aid student information.
- The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience with financial aid refunding and Title IV compliance.
- Familiarity with higher education finance regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of collections laws and third-party billing
