Assistant Director, Honors College
Assists higher level administrators with management, development and implementation of strategies for the Sokolov Honors College and YSU-BaccMed program. Develops, implements, and oversees honors events, including honors only orientation programs, Open House, senior ceremony, CCP in Honors, alumni and community engagement programs. Implements and manages procedures for daily operations and programs associated with the Sokolov Honors College. Coordinates recruitment processes for the Sokolov Honors College and serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and families from initial inquiry through matriculation. Oversees communications with parents, faculty, students, alumni, donors, and other key constituents. Compiles and analyzes data for assessment, annual reporting purposes and data-informed decision making. Assists with the execution of data management systems associated with the college in support of the strategies related to the University's Strategic Plan.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Develops and oversees the planning for honors programs to include: CCP in Honors, Honors Open House, Honors only orientation, senior ceremony, and alumni networking opportunities.
Oversees implementation of honors recruitment efforts. Manages prospective student visit requests and engages with prospective students and their families during visits. Responsibilities include coordinating individualized honors prospect visits and meeting with prospective students and families to communicate program value and fit. Represents the Sokolov Honors College and Cliffe College at high school visits and recruitment events, cultivates relationships with school counselors and strengthens prospective student pipeline. Leads Honors and Cliffe College Ambassador Program; recruits, mentors students, and coordinates opportunities to share YSU experiences publicly with home communities. Tracks prospect engagement and recruitment metrics across the enrollment cycle and prepares reports to inform strategy and decision-making.
Establishes communications with parents and school counselors for recruitment purposes. Oversees ambassador program. Prepares necessary reports to internal and external stakeholders. Develops and monitors communication plan and emails correspondence for prospective students in CRM Recruit. Engages in professional development activities supporting this function.
Oversees communications with key groups including parents, faculty, students and alumni. Curates content, manages distribution, and monitors data analytics for newsletters including CCP in Honors, Healthy Futures, Alumni Phil, and Faculty Phil. and Weekly Phil. Develop and monitor communication plan and email correspondence for prospective students in CRM Recruit.
Updates and maintains honors student handbook and Honors Student SharePoint site.
Provides input with CRM Advise to the honors team with outreach from flags raised with students experiencing difficulties.
Assists with donor relations efforts and programming in conjunction with YSU Foundation.
Collaborates with the Office of Community Engagement and Tressel Institute for Leadership and Teamwork with ongoing community partnerships as part of the honors experience. Assists in execution of OCE and TILT events as well as Summer Honors Institute. Managing the execution of community engagement opportunities originating within the Honors College, community partner opportunities for student and alumni education and engagement. Supervises students serving as community fellows and develops and conducts related training and serves as administrative liaison to community partner. Provides support using the YSU PenguinPulse platform for community engagement including event creation and data analysis.
Contributes to the recruitment and development of honors pre-health students and students on other pre-professional pathways. Prepares BaccMed applications for review, and provides other support functions to BaccMed program.
Maintains and further develops the Honors College Student Handbook (HCSH) and ensures ADA compliance. Provides new students with a copy of the HCSH. Assists with updating and maintaining handbooks and communication to students at all levels.
Assists in the management of various systems and analyzes data for reporting. Serves as the liaison for the integration of the YSU APP for Honors College activities, events, and programs. Monitors Visual Zenn system for incoming student data. Assists faculty with PowerApps. Tracks completion and provides reports on Anti-Hazing training.
Works on any activities related to any of the five pillars of the Honors College as assigned.
Assists with annual assessment activities and slide decks reporting progress with the strategic plan.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least a bachelor's degree; and three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree with demonstrated experience in managing systems, planning and implementing event programming, and utilization of communication tools. Experience in higher education. Familiarity with EMMA email management system, Banner, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, PowerApps, Excel, Access, internet, social media platforms and/or other related software and/or systems.
Physical Requirements:
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.
