POSITION LOCATION: Fort Morgan, CO

EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS: Full-Time (Exempt-Administrative 260 days), 1.0FTE

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB: This position provides direct support to the Director of Financial Aid in the administration and management of student financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations. This role involves overseeing daily operations, conducting research to implement procedural changes, and enhancing the efficiency of financial aid workflows. The Assistant Director is also responsible for maintaining effective working relationships across departments and external agencies. The Assistant Director responds promptly to changes in federal and institutional policies, ensuring staff are kept informed of updates and best practices. This role provides personalized financial aid counseling to students and families, providing guidance on their financial aid options and navigating the application process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional work experience in financial aid or a related field.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Experience administering and/or interpreting policies and regulations.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems and handle student related issues.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Must be flexible and work well in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking and group educational presentations.
  • Ability to pass a background check which includes fingerprinting.
  • Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day and week, and committee service.
  • Able to travel as necessary to carryout job duties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with a student information ERP system (i.e. Banner).
  • Experience with filing federal and state financial aid reports.
  • Experience using Department of Education software.
  • Experience administering and/or interpreting Federal and State of Colorado financial aid funding.

Anticipated Start Date: March 1, 2025

Salary and Benefits: $57,600 - $66,240, based on education, skills and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, vision, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
