OVERVIEW
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Greek Life is a full time 12-month live-in position in Student Engagement. The Assistant Director reports to the Associate Director of Student Engagement. The Assistant Director leads Greek life, supports orientation, SGA, student clubs, and other campus activities to create opportunities for personal growth and development outside the classroom. Serves on the crisis response team in an on-call rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Greek life initiatives including recruitment and new member education and advise Greek Presidents Council and Inter-Greek Council.
- Assist in the chartering process of new Greek Organizations on campus
- Lead mediations and conflict management sessions with various Greek Organizations
- Select, train, and supervise student employees
- Support all orientation programs
- Assist in managing and maintaining department budget
- Plan, facilitate, and evaluate student-initiated campus programs, and weekend vibrancy programming.
- Collaborate with various departments across campus to create a more robust ‘out of the classroom’ student experience
- Manage the Organization Accreditation Process (OAP) and Student Club and Organization Training (SCOT) sessions for AFAC-funded student organizations.
- Serve as a resource for students concerning information about campus programming and organizations.
- Create all resource materials for campus organizations, off-campus activities, advisors’ manual and the student organization manual.
- Maintain the Student Engagement website, orientation website, and utilize social media to market programming and orientation.
- Co-advise Student Government Association.
- Serves on the crisis response team in an on-call rotation.
- Serve on campus wide committees as needed.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree in Higher Ed. Counseling, Student Personnel, or closely related field preferred.
- Two to three years’ experience in student affairs, which may include work experience during graduate school.
- Experience or working knowledge of the following areas: leadership training, Greek life, student programming, new student orientation, office administration, advising and supervision.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, publisher, etc.) data base management, and web page software.
- Familiarity with the small residential liberal arts college setting.
- Many weekend and evening hours are required with this position.
- The expectation of high campus visibility and relationship building among all members of the Ursinus community including, but not limited to faculty, staff, and students is greatly desired.
