Job Description:

SUNY Broome Community College has an immediate opening for a full-time, 12-month, tenure track, Assistant Librarian (Systems Librarian) in the Cecil C. Tyrell Library. This specialized technical role is responsible for the architecture, integration, and optimization of the digital systems that power the Libraries' online services. This position manages the backend platforms and collaborates with the Electronic Resources Librarian to manage electronic resources, authentication systems, and embedded tools that support research, instruction, and student learning. The Assistant Librarian (Systems Librarian) collaborates closely with the College's Web Developer and ensures that Library systems and digital services are properly configured, accessible, and seamlessly incorporated into the College's core web environment in alignment with SUNY standards and campus Information Technology (IT) protocols. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and a commitment to providing responsive and innovative reference services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Requirements:

  • American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) degree or equivalent degree in Information Science. Additional graduate work in an appropriate field is desirable.
  • Three years of professional library experience, or appropriate combination of librarianship, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and bootstrap frameworks.
  • Experience in the use of traditional and electronic resources.
  • Familiarity of library-oriented hardware and software.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Information:

This is an in-person position with a standard workweek of Monday through Friday.

The minimum salary for this position is $67,820. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
