Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance, this position plays a role in the administration of NCAA, Mid-American Conference (MAC), National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), and institutional rules and regulations. The position supports institutional control for 19 varsity sports and more than 550 student-athletes, with primary responsibility in designated monitoring areas.
Job Description
Assistant Director of Compliance
- Essential DutiesAssist with monitoring NCAA, conference, and institutional rules related to recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, awards and benefits, and playing and practice seasons.
- Supports institutional control for 19 varsity sports and more than 550 student-athletes, with primary responsibility in designated monitoring areas.
- Assist with initial and continuing eligibility certification processes.
- Assist in the administration of athletically related financial aid processes and documentation.
- Assist with oversight of student-athlete housing compliance.
- Monitor recruiting activity, including official and unofficial visit documentation and recruiting logs.
- Assist with NIL monitoring and documentation efforts.
- Utilize and maintain compliance systems, including Compliance + Recruiting, Teamworks, and NCAA applications (e.g., LSDBi).
- Assist in researching and preparing NCAA waivers, interpretations, and violations.
- Develop and distribute rules education materials.
- Monitor new NCAA and conference legislation.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Assistant AD for Compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; One year of experience in an NCAA Division I athletics compliance office (full-time, graduate assistant, or internship); Experience with NCAA compliance systems and applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or Juris Doctor; Experience with eligibility certification and recruiting monitoring; Experience using Compliance + Recruiting and Teamworks.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Associate Director of Compliance
- Essential DutiesPlays a key role in the administration and oversight of NCAA, Mid-American Conference (MAC), National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), and institutional rules and regulations.
- Responsible for managing designated monitoring areas, providing rules interpretations and guidance to coaches and staff, and supporting institutional control for 19 varsity sports and more than 550 student-athletes.
- Lead assigned monitoring areas related to recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, awards and benefits, and playing and practice seasons.
- Provide NCAA rules interpretations and guidance to coaches and athletics staff.
- Oversee initial and continuing eligibility certification processes.
- Assist with the administration of athletically related financial aid, including scholarship allocation, agreements, renewals, and reporting.
- Oversee student-athlete housing compliance.
- Oversee recruiting monitoring processes, including official visit documentation and communication logs.
- Assist with NIL monitoring, education, and policy implementation.
- Research, draft, and submit NCAA and conference waivers, interpretations, and violations.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive rules education programming.
- Monitor new NCAA and conference legislation and assist with implementation.
- Conduct compliance reviews and assist with risk assessment efforts.
- Assist with the supervision and training of interns, as applicable.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Assistant AD for Compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; 2 years of experience in an NCAA Division I athletics compliance office (full-time, graduate assistant, or internship); Demonstrated experience managing compliance monitoring areas.
Experience providing NCAA rules interpretations.
Experience using Compliance + Recruiting, Teamworks, and NCAA applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or Juris Doctor;
Experience with NCAA waivers and self-reports.
Experience with eligibility certification and financial aid administration.
Experience with NIL monitoring and education initiatives.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with limited supervision.
