Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice and Assistant Program Director
The Department of Construction and Concrete Industry Management (CCIM) at South Dakota State University (SDState) invites applications for an Assistant Program Director at the Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice rank within the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program beginning August 2026.
This position is ideal for a dedicated and experienced industry professional passionate about teaching and committed to shaping the future of the concrete industry. The successful candidate will bring expertise in concrete technology, construction management, and industry operations, with a strong understanding of managing people, systems, and product promotion within the concrete sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate courses and/or laboratories in concrete-related disciplines.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students and support student competitions.
- Collaborate with industry partners to align the curriculum with current industry needs.
- Contribute to student recruitment, outreach, and retention efforts to strengthen program enrollment and industry engagement.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, supporting SDSU’s mission and the CIM program’s strategic goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field with at least 5 years of experience in construction projects using U.S. standards, or Bachelor’s degree in Concrete Industry Management with at least 2 years of experience in the concrete industry.
- Potential or ability to develop course content and teach at the college level.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, with a willingness to travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience performing concrete test batches in a laboratory setting.
- Experience teaching concrete-related courses at the college level.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Active membership in professional organizations such as ACI, NRMCA, etc.
