Assistant Professor - Computer Science and Cybersecurity
Job Description
Radford University’s School of Computing and Information Sciences invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions in teaching and research, starting in August 2026. We seek candidates who are passionate about teaching and possess expertise in various fields of Computer Science, with a focus on applied learning. An ideal candidate will be able to teach in two or more CS areas such as theory, algorithms, programming languages, software systems, databases, computer networking, cybersecurity, AI applications, or other emerging areas. Candidates are expected to teach and collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse communities and backgrounds. An ideal candidate will also demonstrate enthusiasm for and ability to develop a research program that actively engages undergraduate students.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or in a very closely related technical field; ABDs with planned completion by Summer 2026 will also be considered.
- An established publication record in the candidate’s research area related to Computer Science.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to integrate AI use-cases into the curriculum of courses they teach
- Demonstrated communication skills preferably in classroom settings, evidenced by prior teaching, lecturing or teaching assistant (TA) experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in the core computer science areas
- Ability in creating hands-on learning exercises or labs for the courses taught
- Ability to implement course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs)
