Assistant Professor - Dance

SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Dance with expertise in the practice, education, and research of movement analysis and modern dance. The successful candidate will join a nationally recognized and diverse team faculty and professional staff. This position supports the department's development of dance curriculum within the BA, BS, and BFA courses.

Job Functions:

• Teaching (50%): Expected 3-3 course load, teaches studio and theory courses, engages in experiential education, manages student advisement, chairs graduate thesis, directs student concerts, develops curriculum.
• Scholarly Activity (30%): Produces scholarly publications, publishes peer-reviewed articles, conducts professional presentations, engages in other scholarly activities.
• Service (20%): Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives, attends University events, provides service to the department, University, community, and profession.

Requirements:

• Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree in Dance or related field; minimum one year of full-time teaching experience in higher education; certification in Laban Movement Analysis; experience teaching all levels of Modern/Contemporary Dance; ability to teach at least three of the following: Undergraduate Dance History, Dance Theory, Kinesiology, Pedagogy, Somatics, Yoga, Dance Conditioning/Health and Wellness; ability to choreograph and serve as director for department concerts; current research agenda; ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate commitment to diversity.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience and certification to teach Yoga (ERYT 500 and/or RPYT); experience mentoring student research and choreography; professional performance or choreography experience; interest in evolving dance curriculum.
