Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy at Georgetown University is searching for a tenure-track assistant professor to begin August 2026. We seek candidates who take a philosophical approach to race, or whose work is substantively engaged with a disadvantaged or marginalized racial, ethnic, or regional group. We have a special interest in candidates who can contribute to departmental needs in philosophy of language, epistemology, metaphysics, the philosophy of mind, or the philosophy of science. The teaching load for this position will be two courses per semester, with teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
A Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field is required prior to appointment. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in both teaching and research. Applicants should provide the following: 1) a brief cover letter, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) a writing sample (max: 30 pages), 4) a teaching statement, 5) a research statement, 6) a statement explaining how they will enrich a community that seeks a diversity of perspectives, and 7) the names of at least three references.
