"Assistant Professor East Asian Art History"

The School of Art at UNC Greensboro seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of East Asian Art History, with preference for a candidate who specializes in Media Histories and specifically those of animation, print, or new medias. This colleague will teach across multiple media, while also implementing broader surveys in the history of Asian Art. Applicants whose research and teaching address the Asian diaspora or trans-regional interactions in relation to these Media Histories are especially encouraged to apply.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Review of applications will begin February 6 and is ongoing until the position is filled. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually, on-campus interviews will take place later in the Spring semester, and the appointment begins on August 1, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in East Asian Art History or related field, or A.B.D. with expected completion Summer 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:

• East Asian art history, broadly conceived
• Research and teaching engage with animation, print, OR new media
• Ability to teach across media
• Ability to develop courses across Asian art history temporally and/or geographically
• Research and teaching address the Asian diaspora or trans-regional interactions
• Experience teaching with objects, collections, or archives
• Skills-based and culturally responsive teaching approaches
• Active record of scholarly research, curatorial contributions, and/or other engagement with the field
• 3 years of teaching experience
• Experience or demonstrated interest in advising and actively mentoring students
• Expands rather than duplicates current faculty research and teaching strengths
