Assistant Professor in Architectural Design
The Department of Architecture in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning at Cornell University invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month full-time Assistant Professor position in the department of Architecture.
Candidate qualifications must include evidence of exceptional strength in architectural design and architecture design studio teaching as well as in creative work and/or research work related to design. We seek candidates who will generously enrich and expand the design pedagogy, discourse, and intellectual life of the department through their architecture design work, research, scholarship, teaching, and through their engagement with students, colleagues, and the community. Candidates should have the ability to engage in the full breadth of the architecture curriculum and be interested in strengthening the design legacy of the department as well as engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration across the department, college, and university--through labs, centers, critical practices, or individual collaborations. Areas of additional expertise which might both broaden and/or deepen design expertise may include one or more of the following areas: urbanism, theory, computation and digital technologies, sustainability and climate, among others.
A professional bachelor's or master's degree in the field of architecture is required. Responsibilities will include teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, research, advising, and service.
This position will begin on July 1, 2026, and will be based at Cornell's Ithaca campus.

The Department of Architecture dates to the founding of Cornell University. The department engages urgent global issues through a foundation of conceptual thinking and processes of making, and is committed to architectural practices informed by and embedding within evolving and dynamic social, environmental, and technical contexts. Degree programs include a professional Bachelor of Architecture, a professional Master of Architecture, post-professional Master of Science degrees in Advanced Architectural Design and Advanced Urban Design, and a doctoral program in the History of Architecture and Urban Development. Cornell Architecture students and faculty benefit from the Material Practice Facilities in AAP and a world-renowned library collection, and participate in an expanded footprint that includes AAP NYC and Cornell in Rome.
