Primary Responsibilities

The Construction Management program in the Haile College of Business at Northern Kentucky University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2026. We invite candidates from all areas of specialization to apply; particular consideration will be given to those with expertise in: project management, building codes, electrical systems for construction, structural analysis, land planning and development, construction layout, construction equipment, cost control, scheduling, and/or heavy/civil construction. Salary will be based on a nine-month, academic year appointment.

Primary Responsibilities: The candidate must be able to develop course material aligned with accreditation standards and teach a minimum of six undergraduate course sections annually. Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate aptitude to pursue scholarship of teaching, research, and/or outreach in accordance with the mission of the university; fully participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes; work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams; collaborate with other disciplines and interact with the industry; participate in service activity in support of the university and college missions; and participate in or lead service learning projects. Other expectations of a successful candidate include active involvement in the life of the Haile College of Business and the university as a whole, including attending program, department, and college meetings, as well as continued involvement in the construction industry outside the university.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. required in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field at the time of appointment, but ABD candidates with evidence of imminent completion are welcome to apply; demonstrated ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from a broad array of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred qualifications: At least three years of relevant experience in the U.S. construction industry is preferred; strong communication skills; evidence of the potential to be an excellent teacher; commitment to service learning; understanding of assessment and accreditation; evidence of excellence in research.
