Cheyney University invites applications for Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Africana Studies to teach Introduction to Africana Studies, African History, African American History, African American Politics and Africana Philosophy. Applicants will be expected to engage in effective teaching, scholarly and professional development, university service, and community service as outlined in the University Tenure and Promotion Policies and Procedures Guide.
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- Teach courses in the Africana concentration within the Social Relations major
- Complete course and program assessment
- Engage in department and university service
- Participate in extra-curricular activities such as open house
Requirements
Education
- Ph. D. in Africology (African American Studies, Africana Studies)
Qualifications
- Experience teaching core courses in Africana Studies
- Teaching students from marginalized groups
- Experience with working with students for conference presentation
- Effective use of technology in the classroom
- Student-centered practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching distance education courses
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from marginalized groups
