Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision
The Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision is a 9-month, tenure-track, full-time faculty position. The duties and responsibilities include: teaching graduate courses in the counselor education program; conducting research that results in refereed publications and professional presentations; pursuing external funding through grant proposal submissions; directing students' independent research projects and dissertations; advising graduate students and chairing/serving on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees; participating in public service and professional organizations; engaging in interdisciplinary research to promote education and health outcomes of children and youth; and engaging in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels.
This faculty position is part of the 'whole schools' cluster hire in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. The College's unique structure presents an opportunity to promote collaboration across its education and health programs to maximize learning and health in schools. To this end, the College seeks outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions committed to advancing research in the emergent signature research area of 'whole schools.' Recruiting new faculty with shared research agendas related to 'whole schools' has the potential to leverage the college's existing strengths and contribute to its national prominence.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in Counselor Education conferred by the start of employment
- An established or emerging research agenda focused on healthy schools and/or related topics (e.g., student mental health, school safety, social emotional development of K-12 students, the school-home connection, the relationship between academic achievement and/or career development and mental health) within the field of counseling
- Evidence of exemplary performance and promise of success in research/scholarly activity
- Eligibility for Arkansas state licensure
- Doctoral-level preparation in clinical supervision
- Strong interest in and a professional commitment to the preparation of master's level counselors and doctoral level counselor educators
Preferred Qualifications:
- Counseling experience in a school setting including school based mental health OR Counseling experience working with children and youth
- Evidence of interdisciplinary research bridging education and health fields
- Experience with interprofessional education (IPE) and/or interprofessional practice (IPC)
- Experience submitting and/or securing grant funds
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience
