Assistant Professor of Economics
The Economics Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2026. Applicants should be committed to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarly research. The successful candidate will teach courses and conduct research in the general area of macroeconomics. We have particular interest in candidates who have teaching and research interests in macroeconomic aspects of environmental economics, history of economic thought, or technology and innovation. The 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members in the Economics Department cover a range of fields, and the Department coordinates a joint seminar series with nearby Colgate University.

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would enhance the educational experience of students and further the College's educational goals. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year. Candidates with ABD will be considered, although candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $115,175 to $122,400. The College provides ample support for research, including start-up funds.
