Position Summary
The Department of Economics at Central Michigan University invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2025.
We are seeking a candidate who will contribute to our graduate and undergraduate curriculum in macroeconomics and monetary economics. A successful applicant must demonstrate both strong research potential and the ability to engage in high-quality teaching. The ability to work collaboratively with others in the department, including graduate students, is also desirable.
The duties of this position include publishing research in peer-reviewed academic journals, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (we have both an MA in Economics and an MBA program), and performing service for the department and the profession. The standard teaching load is three sections per semester with class sizes between 15 and 45.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in economics, must be completed prior to the start date.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
- Active research agenda.
- Eligibility to work in the United States by the scheduled start date.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in classes where the applicant was the instructor of record.
