Assistant Professor of Instruction or Lecturer
Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
- Teach developmental English, first-year writing courses, and other composition courses including business and technical writing
- Some possibility of a section of literature survey (American, British, World)
- Collaborate with the Coordinator of Developmental English and Chair of the Composition Committee on curriculum development and assessment
- Respond to and communicate with students, colleagues, and the department chair in a timely fashion
- Maintain regular on-campus presence
- Participate in one department committee in addition to the Composition Committee
- Attend departmental meetings
Required Qualifications
- MA or Ph.D. in English or Rhetoric & Composition
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and professional development
- Experience in teaching two or more of the following: developmental writing, first-year composition, creative writing, business writing, writing for STEM students, digital humanities
- Experience in face-to-face and online teaching (undergraduate)
- Experience in or willingness to teach 7-week and 15-week classes during fall and spring semesters
- Experience with the ethical integration of AI into courses
- Proven ability in building trust through collaborative decision-making, embracing shared governance, and integrating with the community

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
