Job Description Summary: The Department of Marketing in the Farmer School of Business invites applications for a teaching faculty position focused on the development and delivery of high-quality undergraduate instruction primarily in sales-related courses, such as Professional Selling, Sales Management, Key Account Selling, and sales capstone courses. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative curriculum development that reflects the evolving role of sales in today’s business environment.
Sales functions are critical in numerous industries, and demand for well-trained sales professionals continues to grow. Contemporary sales roles increasingly emphasize customer engagement, data-driven decision-making, and strategic leadership. As organizations navigate digital transformation and intensifying competition, effective sales management plays a central role in driving growth, building long-term customer relationships, and delivering value. This position offers an opportunity to help prepare the next generation of sales leaders equipped to meet these challenges. The successful candidate will contribute to departmental, school, and university service consistent with the expectations of a teaching-focused faculty appointment.
The Department of Marketing is in the Farmer School of Business, and currently has approximately 350 graduates per year, and consists of approximately 28 faculty members including tenured/tenure-track faculty, teaching professors, lecturers, clinical, and visiting faculty. As part of its strategic priorities, the Department of Marketing is planning the future development of a Professional Sales Center to enhance experiential learning, industry engagement, and student professional development in sales. Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Ph.D. in Marketing, DBA, or a closely related field by date of appointment for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor; Master’s degree in Marketing, MBA or a closely related field by the date of appointment for the rank of Assistant Lecturer.
Consideration may be given to applicants with:
- Demonstrated excellence or strong potential in undergraduate teaching in professional selling and related areas.
- Strong interest, relevant experience, and a passion for contributing to the planning and development of a Professional Sales Center through faculty service.
- Experience developing or delivering courses related to professional selling and sales management.
- Experience with or demonstrated interest in the development, leadership, and ongoing management of a Professional Sales Center or similar academic center, institute, or program, including industry partnership engagement, experiential learning initiatives, student professional development, and external outreach.
- Industry experience or professional certifications relevant to professional selling.
