Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management within the Rutgers Health Academic Affairs Department.
Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management (AVC-EM) represents Rutgers Health in activities concerning enrollment services, Rutgers Health policies and procedures related to student enrollment, central administration academic support units, consistent with and in furtherance of, Rutgers University's policies, goals and objectives. The AVC-EM will represent the needs and interests of Rutgers Health in enrollment issues and priorities and will collaborate with the other leaders of the University in furthering the educational mission of Rutgers Health.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide vision, leadership, and management for enrollment management operations, inclusive of Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid, at Rutgers Health. Serve as the lead communicator of enrollment policy and process with effective and timely communication to internal staff and leadership.
- Ensure policies, protocols and procedures pertaining to the university, state, and federal processes are observed in a timely and efficient manner. Lead the creation and enforcement of policies and procedures that govern the work of reporting units, ensuring responsiveness to regulatory changes, institutional priorities, and best practices in higher education.
- Work to ensure all team members have the knowledge base to understand, interpret, and explain university, federal, and state regulatory enrollment guidelines and procedures while ensuring compliance is upheld with ever-changing requirements with the University, State, and Federal agencies across the areas of responsibility (in conjunction with the University Central Offices).
- Ensure the optimal integration of the Rutgers Health Office of Financial Aid into the Rutgers Health Office of Academic Affairs and oversee its functions.
- At the direction of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, closely partner with Enrollment Management departments and other constituents to design, contribute to, and implement short- and long-term strategic enrollment management (SEM) plans in line with leadership's vision, including defining of goals, specific objectives, timelines, resources, benchmarks and performance indicators to measure progress and success.
- Work collaboratively with Rutgers Health and University enrollment leadership to identify and assess needs, as well as the feasibility of strategic implementation goals, including but not limited to Rutgers Health One-Stop. Once strategic goals are determined required and feasible, create plans to implement.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, promoting close collaboration across the University and among Chancellor units and schools of the University, reinforcing a commitment to providing outstanding student and enrollment services.
- Provide oversight of the Project Director in their administration of the student criminal background check process.
- Cultivate business methodologies and strategies to improve the quality of the student educational experience and retention initiatives.
- Implement process improvements and craft policies and practices, along with the Vice Chancellors for Enrollment Management across all campuses, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, University Central Offices, Directors of the functional offices, the Project Management Office and key internal and external members of the campus community.
Minimum Education and Experience
- A Master's degree in an appropriate field of study such as Higher Education, Administration, Public Health, Student Affairs, or Business, plus ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Experience must include a minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible work in an institution or organization of higher education—preferably an accredited senior research or health sciences university—and five (5) years of relevant senior‑level managerial experience, including significant organizational experience, team building, and complex problem resolution.
