Salary Range: Up to $61,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Associate Director is responsible for providing leadership by guiding departmental and divisional communications strategies, including design and implementation of marketing elements, daily operations, and supporting staff to maximize team effectiveness. This role creates communications plans and marketing collateral with the support of student employees. The Associate Director manages departmental operations and is responsible for ensuring objectives and initiatives consistently align with organizational goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Communications and Administration in Student Affairs.
- Works in conjunction with the department leader in developing, coordinating and implementing strategic communications plans, graphic design, storytelling, processes, and procedures.
- Partners with campus departments in communications for student services and programmatic efforts especially in the areas of well-being, advocacy and basic needs assistance.
- Assists in managing department budgets, monitoring expenses, and preparing progress reports for senior leadership.
- Ensures all activities comply with university requirements, branding guidelines, Academic Strategic Communications and internal policies.
- Leads projects and initiatives to improve the department including a leadership role in training student employees across the division
- Acts as the department leader in their absence, making key decisions and managing crisis situations.
- Provides outreach, programming and consultation to the campus community.
- Assists in the supervision, training, development and evaluation of staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience in communications.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in graphic design and photo editing software is strongly preferred.
- Experience in Health communications.

Working Conditions
Usual office environment. Evening and weekend hours are occasionally required. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.
Physical Demands
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
