Associate Director of Master's Degree Program in Information Technology

Independently plan and implement academic affairs operations including faculty support, curriculum management and training.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- The Associate Director for the Master’s Degree Program in Information Technology (IT) plays a critical role in the administration and strategic oversight of one of Harvard Extension School’s largest and fastest growing programs. This role supports the Director by overseeing academic operations, course management, faculty support, and program policy implementation across multiple fields, including Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Media Design, Data Science, and Systems Engineering.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an outstanding experience for faculty, students, and industry partners and serves as a program representative on key committees within the Division. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Program Administration and Operations: Serve as the primary backup to the Director, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making when needed. Oversee day-to-day operational management, including faculty communications and enrollment tracking. Manage and maintain course proposal and approval processes, working with faculty to ensure high-quality academic offerings. Ensure compliance with University policies and accreditation standards, providing guidance on academic and administrative matters.
- Program Development and Strategic Planning: Review and enhance curriculum structure, program policies, and degree requirements to align with academic goals and industry trends in collaboration with Director. Gather and analyze program performance data, including enrollment trends, student outcomes, and course surveys to drive continuous improvement. Identify growth opportunities, including new courses and interdisciplinary collaborations, to expand the program’s impact.
- Faculty and Course Support: Serve as a resource for faculty, providing program support to ensure seamless course delivery. Manage the technology partner relationship and oversee the academic grant process for technology platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) to support technical courses and student learning experiences. Conduct quality reviews of syllabi and course materials to ensure consistency across academic offerings.
- Industry Partners and Advisory Board Support and Engagement: Work with faculty and student support services to address student needs and ensure academic success. Coordinate industry events and networking opportunities that enhance student learning and professional development. Oversee the execution of program events, including faculty meetings, annual receptions, and advisory board meetings.
- Interdepartmental and External Collaboration: Represent the IT program in committees, working groups, and cross-departmental initiatives at Harvard Extension School (HES) and Harvard University. Partner with enrollment, registrar, academic advising, marketing, and IT support teams to ensure efficient operations and student services. Foster external partnerships with industry leaders and alumni to strengthen program visibility and engagement.
Working Conditions
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during peak times (e.g., program events, faculty meetings, or student networking sessions). Physical Requirements
Primarily desk work involving repetitive motions such as typing and using a computer. Occasionally lifting lightweight materials (up to 20 lbs.) for event setup or program materials.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience.
- Additional Qualifications and Skills: Master’s degree in related field. Experience in data gathering and analysis. Familiarity with academic processes and strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for collaboration and effective program management.
