"Manager of Technical Services"

Miami University Libraries: Manager of Technical Services to support core acquisitions, cataloging, and electronic resources management operations and ensure necessary resources are available and discoverable for faculty and students. The libraries hold an increasing number of electronic resources, requiring skills to acquire and manage. The Manager of Technical Services will report directly to the Department Head of the Access and Borrow Department (A&B) and provide support to the Acquisitions and Access Librarian; Electronic Resources Librarian; and Coordinator of Cataloging. The Manager of Technical Services will undertake tasks including: assisting in negotiating licenses for electronic resources; maintaining vendor contacts, reviewing terms, and monitoring renewal cycles; managing resources and workflows through editing and uploading batches of records to library management system; conducting resource access testing; development and testing of cataloging workflows; perform original and copy cataloging as needed; and undertake other duties as assigned (such as contributing to the building and maintenance of acquisitions and electronic resources functions in the library management system, and committee work).

Required: Bachelor’s degree; demonstrated familiarity with library technical services.

Consideration may be given to applicants who possess: demonstrated familiarity with cataloging practices, batchloading, and/ or license negotiation; experience working in academic library technical services; proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and complete tasks according to an established timeframe; and demonstrated ability to perform accurate and detail-oriented work. Ability to work independently.
