"Associate Professor of Law"

Columbia Law School is seeking to hire one or more tenure-track faculty members in the area of law. The incumbent will teach a full academic load; regularly publish significant scholarly work; and, if ultimately appointed as a tenured member of the Law School faculty, actively participate in faculty affairs, including membership on standing faculty committees in consideration of a wide range of issues including faculty appointments and curricular modifications.

Qualifications:
• J.D. (or J.D. equivalent); or
• Ph.D.

The candidate is expected to have high levels of educational attainment appropriate to law teaching, including a strong academic record; demonstration of the capacity for original and high-quality scholarship (as evident through prior work or works in progress); demonstrated ability to engage in clear and effective teaching (through prior experience and/or through a presentation to the faculty); attainment of a high reputation among those in the scholarly community (as determined through recommendations); law journal experience; judicial clerkship, especially Supreme Court; significant practical experience and expertise in law practice; and academic honors and fellowships.

Salary Range: $195,000–$240,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
