The Paralegal Technology Program Director in collaboration with the Dean, Business, Creative and Performing Arts provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the Paralegal Program and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget development/management, maintaining programmatic accreditation/external partnerships, and providing operational supervision to full- and part-time faculty and staff in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong Paralegal Technology skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment.
The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with some administrative release time to carry out administrative duties.
Under general supervision, he/she will prepare and teach legal specialty courses designed to support the Paralegal Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree and Certificate. Legal specialty courses include, but are not limited to, Civil Litigation; Commercial Law; Criminal Law and Procedure; Real Property; Family Law; Wills, Estates and Trusts; and Legal Research and Writing.
He/she will be proficient in legal research software such as WestLaw or Lexis/Nexis and be prepared to integrate these technology skills into the classroom. He/she will be able to teach at times and locations that meet the needs of students and be committed to working constructively with all facets of a growing Paralegal program within a community college setting.

Education Required
- Juris Doctorate degree or its equivalent from an American Bar Association accredited law school located at an institutionally accredited college/university
- Admitted and in good standing to practice law in at least one state
Education Preferred
- Admitted and in good standing to practice law in North Carolina
Experience Required
- 3 years of experience in the practice of law
- Post-secondary teaching and/or professional training experience in legal/paralegal studies in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
Experience Preferred
- Greater than 3 years of experience in the practice of law
- Community college teaching experience in legal/paralegal studies
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
KSA Required
The Paralegal Technology Program Director shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its “open door” policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Program Director will have an understanding of the concept of a learning-centered, open admissions institution, community college philosophy, diversity issues, and instructional technology. The Program Director must be able to:
