About Us

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Business Operations Officer to provide reception and operational support for the Imaging Clinical Research Facility at St Thomas' Hospital. The post sits with King's College London and is managed through the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences.

About The Role

The main purpose of the post is to meet and greet patients at reception. To make patient and research subjects’ appointments, register patients / volunteers on the required computer systems and carry out other administrative tasks as necessary to support the administration of the clinical and research Imaging operations with the multidisciplinary clinical and research environment for our Joint Imaging Centre and Advanced Imaging Centre. The post holder will also be expected to support the MRI Office Administration Manager for the administrative and facility management aspects of the department.

You will be responsible for ensuring administrative support is provided in a flexible, responsive and confident manner, both in a clinical and research setting. This will include a variety of duties and a high level of patient contact. The post holder must have a high standard of general education as essential requirement. Previous working knowledge in NHS systems such as EPIC would be regarded as desirable. The successful candidate is able to work well with a wide variety of people and be a good team player.

This is a full-time post and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The post is required to be full time on-site (i.e., there is no option for working from home).

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Substantial previous relevant operations experience particularly in a clinical or research setting in a university or the NHS
  2. Experience of working in a highly regulated area of work, where a care for detail is required in order to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  3. Excellent knowledge and experience of using NHS administrative procedures and IT systems (e.g., EPIC) to deal with patient data
  4. Proven good communication and interpersonal skills in order to receive, understand and relay information of varying complexity to various groups.
  5. Exceptional task management skills and ability to work under pressure in a busy environment with a record of delivering on time and in budget.
  6. Understanding of patient confidentiality
  7. Proficient IT skills (including Office365 suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience of utilizing digital technology in day-to-day work.
  8. Effective at working independently, and as part of a team, able to take own initiative and decisions with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Desirable criteria

  1. A Level or equivalent in Maths, Science and English
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology
  3. Knowledge of databases
  4. Ability to understand and analyse data to inform decisions.
  5. Experience in customer service and training
