Job Summary:

The Project Manager will provide project support for the Verily/Refined Science/Department of Ophthalmology Collaborative project, the central administrative team and department leadership. The position is expected to provide strategic thought leadership to cross functional project teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders while demonstrating a keen eye for the tactical elements of projects. The position partners with Division and Department leadership to identify and evaluate opportunities for efficiency and growth, through pro-active seeking out, prioritizing, and development of initiatives. This position will be responsible for tracking milestones, coordinating biorepository sample analysis on multiple platforms, enhancing interactive communication between working groups within the project, assisting in the bioinformatic analysis of clinical and biorepository sample data, creating and managing the project budget, provide support in the development of SOPs, tracking of KPIs and other tactical initiatives with the Division and Department. This position will also work with project and department leadership to assess and improve operational needs within the department.

The position will provide end to end project leadership (concept to completion), fully owning the mechanisms which ensure successful project delivery using a creative, focused, and synergistic project development process to include internal stakeholders and external strategic partnerships.

Examples of Duties:

  • Serves as a liaison with executives and program leaders, to ensure that organizational goals are met.
  • Monitors and assists in drafting timelines for implementation of long-range/short-range plans and projects
  • Works with project leadership to track grant milestones and deliverables
  • Monitors project portfolio progress, drafting and distributing periodic progress reports for leadership and stakeholders in the form of dashboards.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the project and assigns personnel and assets accordingly.
  • Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.
  • Prepares and implements a budget based on estimates.
  • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
  • Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project.
  • Provides training to department leaders in the project management framework.

Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • At least 4 years of related professional work experience in project management with at least 1 year in a lead role demonstrating management of progressively more complex projects and initiatives.
  • One year in academic healthcare setting/research institution with experience working with faculty and managing a research or business unit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of professional level experience in project management.
  • Experience with large-scale project management, strategic planning and/or consulting
  • Experience in healthcare or at an academic medicine research institution
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other related advanced degree.
  • Experience using and deploying project management software such as Clickup
  • Demonstrated experience executing process improvement or project management within academic healthcare setting/research institution

Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills with a self-directed, results oriented aptitude.
  • Must have demonstrated analytical/problem-solving, project management/task planning
  • Responsible to ensure project plans are robust, maintained, and access is available to all necessary.
  • Organization agility, demonstrating ability to influence across levels and functions of the organization.
  • Project portfolio management on an enterprise or strategic planning level
  • Demonstrated experience in management and building out teams
  • Proven leadership in project management demonstrating flexibility, creative problem solving, conflict resolution and drive for results.
  • Solves extremely complex, multi-faceted problems requiring ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Regularly exercises independent judgment in developing new methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results for complex assignments
  • Strong commitment and skills delivering (and leading a team to deliver) very high levels of customer service and ability to navigate occasionally challenging partners

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $68,462 - 87,084.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
