As part of the comprehensive and valuable benefits package the College offers credit course tuition waivers for employees, spouses and dependents. This allows for employees and their families to take advantage of earning a higher education degree without the high cost. The College offers students 69 Degree Program Options and 35 Credit Certificates from which to choose.

This position works as a coach and advisor to students as it relates to their transitioning to the workforce, further training, or additional education. The person meets with students at least twice/month and keeps detailed case notes on each student. The position is the liaison for the department with local employers, local HR departments, and other stakeholders. Position is responsible for working with stakeholders for onsite or virtual site visits, workshops, and other hiring related events. This position must be able to secure standardized assessment proctoring certification. Responsible for proctoring department standardized assessments. Must be able to work a flex schedule that includes two evenings/week. Assists with registration and with assessment schedules.

This position is temporary, part time and contingent upon the availability of grant funding.The position will start on January 5, 2026, (or sooner), until June 30, 2026. The position will remain if the grant is renewed for another year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Helps students identify personal interests and life goals.
  • Assists students in planning strategic career moves and developing leadership skills.
  • Finds new employment opportunities for students.
  • Reviews students' resumes and cover letters and provides feedback.
  • Rehearses job interview tactics with students and offers advice.
  • Facilitates seminars and workshops to educate individuals who are searching for the right career path.
  • Guides students who desire to make a career change.
  • Performs personality and skills assessments on students.
  • Administers aptitude tests to help determine students' interests and talents.
  • Considers students' experience and education when recommending career paths.
  • Recommends additional education to students to help them achieve their career goals.
  • Helps students write resumes and letters to prospective employers.
  • Assists students with job search skills, making contact with prospective employers and completing job applications.
  • Counsels students on how to overcome barriers to class attendance and job retention
  • Promotes student success habits to result in class retention and job advancement.
  • Answers questions concerning details about different careers.
  • Advises students on courses to take in college to prepare for a particular career.
  • Helps students choose the right education pursuit to match their career choices.
  • Helps students transition to their post secondary education

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills are important
  • Must be a good multi-tasker, scheduler, time manager and an active listener
  • Must have excellent management and motivational skills
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of designing spreadsheets

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with student success coaching
  • Experience with career coaching
  • Prior experience as a career coach preferred. Maintaining databases preferred
