Career Planning Coach
Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Career Coach is responsible for providing career coaching of individuals and groups, creating and conducting career programming, and building relationships with student organizations and other campus constituents on behalf of the Career Services Office.
- Conduct individual and group career coaching using strategies and guidance based on current best practices; regularly analyze delivery model and strategy
- Conduct regularly scheduled and on request workshops for general and specific populations
- Establish, maintain, and grow a rapport with student organizations and campus partners
- Stay updated on employment, recruiting, and advising trends that impact the services we provide
- Other duties as assigned
A successful candidate will need leadership, initiative, outstanding written and oral communication skills, collegial professionalism, be tech savvy and have integrity.
Candidates should be able to fluidly work with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers and community members.
- Bachelor’s degree required; completed or actively working towards a master’s degree preferred
- 1 - 3 years advising/coaching/tutoring and/or working in higher education with diverse constituencies (faculty, staff, students, alumni)
- Commitment to building relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni and employers
- Experience in developing and facilitating impactful programming for university-level students; career or professional development programming preferred
- Demonstrated commitment in supporting and serving all students and their development
- Experience with many, if not all, of the following (or similar) tools: Google Apps for Education, AI tools (ex.: UM-GPT), Microsoft Office, Canva, Salesforce, 12twenty and other tools commonly used in higher education
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple priorities, work at high standards, and meet deadlines within a required timeframe
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices in higher education career services/readiness
- A collaborative approach to their work and relationships while also able to take initiative and work autonomously
