You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.
Your opportunity
The Careers and Employability team at Southern Cross University plays a vital role in preparing students for life after university, supporting graduate success, employability outcomes and meaningful industry connection. Working within a highly regarded, collaborative team, you will partner closely with academics, industry and alumni to embed career learning across disciplines and ensure students are work-ready, confident and future focused.
As a Careers and Employability Coach, you will design and deliver high-quality, curriculum-integrated career development programs while providing personalised career coaching to domestic and international students. This is a highly student-centred role suited to a career development professional who enjoys variety, values collaboration, and is motivated by improving graduate outcomes at scale.
Working as part of a close-knit team across three campuses, you will balance one-on-one career coaching, workshop delivery, project work and industry engagement. You’ll act as a lead for allocated disciplines, partnering with academics to embed career development into core units in a way that is scalable, equitable and impactful for all students.
You will make an impact by:
Delivering one-on-one career coaching and recruitment advice to domestic and international students and recent graduates
Designing and delivering engaging career development workshops, lectures and curriculum-embedded learning experiences (online and face-to-face)
Partnering with academics as a discipline-aligned consultant to embed career learning into core units and programs
Building strong relationships with employers, industry partners and alumni to enhance student employability
Leading and contributing to careers events, projects and employer engagement initiatives
What you will bring
You’re a calm, collaborative career development professional with a talent for empowering students to achieve their goals. You work well in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and enjoy partnering with colleagues and industry. Your student-centred approach ensures every interaction supports meaningful career outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field, with substantial experience in career development
Professional-level membership, or eligibility for membership, with a Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) member association
Demonstrated knowledge of labour market trends, career development theory and practice within higher education
Experience creating and delivering high quality face-to-face and online career education programs, workshops and lectures
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with academics, students, and external stakeholders
Experience in health-related disciplines, educational design, digital design or LMS platforms will be well regarded, but training and support will be provided for the right candidate
