"Chair of the School of Education"

Chair of the School of Education. The School of Education at Westminster College invites applications for the position of School Chair. We seek qualified applicants at the associate or full professor rank who demonstrate accomplished classroom teaching, a commitment to innovative research and teaching, familiarity with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the US Department of Education, and a record of leadership and cooperative work across college divisions on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities include

• Teaching. The Chair teaches in-person courses in the undergraduate curriculum. Teaching load could include, in addition to courses supporting the education major, courses in the core curriculum and first-year program.
• Leadership within the School and across campus as well as with external accreditors and other organizations. The Chair oversees faculty teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs.
• The College expects research output in the relevant field of specialization.
• Curriculum development, oversight and assessment.
• Management of School operations and personnel.
• Fulfillment of academic advising responsibilities.
• Service on College committees, as well as service to the external professional community in the field of education.

Applicants must possess an appropriate doctoral degree for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.  Consideration will be given to all areas of education, though preference may be given to candidates with expertise in English language learners. Cover letters should explain the candidate’s commitment to the mission statement, philosophies and purposes of the College. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2026.
