Job Description

The Emergency Services Department at Idaho State University is seeking an outstanding half-time faculty member to join the Fire Services Administration program. This is a (.5 FTE) clinical track position. The Fire Service Administration faculty's primary responsibilities are to develop and teach undergraduate coursework, recruit, and mentor students in the career field. In addition to instruction, the faculty member will assist the Program Director with marketing and course development as needed and support the Emergency Services Center's training and consulting offerings.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will assume Program Director duties within the first year of this appointment. The anticipated start date for the successful candidate will be August 2025.

This position is eligible for remote work; DOES NOT need to have proximity to an ISU campus location. However, occasional travel to campus will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the quality of Fire Service Administration Program offerings by:

  • Teaching, research, and service consistent with rank:
    • Teach disciplinary courses to support the FSA programs.
    • Research and service initiatives related to (FESHE) Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education.
    • Keep abreast of new developments and research in fire service education and share this information with faculty as appropriate.
    • Monitor FSA programs and FESHE standards to ensure coursework continues to be relevant and meet FESHE standards, and recommend changes or updates as necessary/appropriate.
  • Recruiting and marketing FSA programs:
    • Develop and assist with marketing strategies.
    • Coordinate with public relations and media relations specialists to promote the FSA programs.
    • Serve as a spokesperson on FSA topics when requested by media relations Specialists.
    • Serve as a liaison with other departments providing FSA minors as well as those considering use of FSA courses as electives.
    • Work with community college and university programs that only offer AA/AAS degrees in Fire Services Administration/Technology to develop articulation agreements with these programs into the FSA bachelor's program.
    • Participate in the development of the strategic direction, goal setting, marketing strategy for training and consulting offerings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in applicable field
  • Experience in Fire Services Administration and related areas
  • Experience with program planning, curriculum and evaluation
  • Teaching experience at the college level
  • Experience with professional accreditation
  • Experience with collaborative research projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree preferred

2. Please describe your experience teaching in an online asynchronous environment. Please share any details about specific credentials or certifications you have related to teaching in an online higher education classroom. What techniques do you use to engage with students?

3. Please describe your experience developing college-level courses for an online asynchronous environment. What topics and course titles have you developed? Which Learning Management Systems (LMS) have you used when developing course content?

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will assume Program Director duties within the first year of this appointment. The anticipated start date for the successful candidate will be August 2025. This position will remain open until it is filled; however, priority consideration will be given to applications received on or before July 13, 2025. Salary will be $35,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
