Clinical Research Interviewer
Clinical Research Interviewer
- Be part of a national study shaping the future of mental health care
- Full-time or Part time (0.5), fixed-term position (12-months) at our Hawthorn campus
- RSCHA 1-3 salary (depending on experience) + 17% super and staff benefits
Are you passionate about mental health research and keen to work on the cutting edge of psychological treatment? We’re looking for a Clinical Research Interviewer to join an exciting, National Health and Medical Research Council-funded randomised controlled trial exploring an innovative, digitally supported therapy for people experiencing persistent auditory hallucinations.
About the project
You’ll work on the Avatar-mediated therapy for hallucinations superiority trial (AMETHYST), a large national study comparing a novel avatar-based therapy with current best-practice treatment. This therapy uses a computer-generated avatar to represent the voice a person hears, supporting participants to develop new and more effective ways of responding to their voices. Previous trials have shown particularly strong outcomes in a relatively short number of sessions.
The AMETHYST trial will recruit over 200 participants from across Australia, all supported via telehealth through our pioneering Voices Clinic. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a study with real potential to change clinical practice.
About the role
As the Clinical Research Interviewer, you’ll play a vital role in the success of the trial. Working under the supervision of the Trial Co-ordinator and Lead Investigator, you will be responsible for participant liaison and recruitment, and for conducting standardised clinical assessments at enrolment and post-therapy follow-ups. Assessments are completed remotely via videoconferencing or telephone and are conducted independently of treatment allocation, ensuring the integrity of the research.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful participant contact, values rigorous research practice, and is confident working both independently and within a collaborative research team.
You’ll be part of an internationally significant clinical trial, working with an experienced and supportive research team, and contributing to innovative mental health treatments that have the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives. If you’re motivated by impact, innovation, and high-quality research, we’d love to hear from you.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- A completed four-year tertiary qualification in psychology, or equivalent qualifications or research experience in a related field such as nursing, occupational therapy or social work.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships with participants and clinical staff.
- A proven ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Sound computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and statistical software such as SPSS.
- An Honours degree or higher qualification, or equivalent relevant research experience.
