Your opportunityAs our Technical and Laboratory Officer (Veterinary Pathology & Microbiology) within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, you will support teaching and research by preparing and coordinating veterinary pathology and microbiology laboratories. Working closely with academic and technical teams, you will manage laboratory resources, specimens and culture collections, ensure safe and compliant operations in PC1/PC2 environments, and contribute to a collaborative, cross-trained technical team supporting a growing veterinary discipline.You will make an impact by:

  • Preparing and coordinating laboratories, specimens and equipment for veterinary teaching activities
  • Managing laboratory resources, culture collections and inventories to support effective operations
  • Ensuring WHS, biosafety and compliance standards are embedded in daily laboratory practice
  • Providing technical support and guidance to staff and students during practical classes
  • Collaborating across technical and academic teams to share expertise and continuously improve laboratory systems

What you will bringYou are an experienced laboratory professional with practical clinical or diagnostic experience, ideally in veterinary or biomedical environments. You enjoy working in a hands-on teaching setting, are adaptable in a developing discipline, and value collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.To succeed in this role, you will also need:

  • A relevant degree and demonstrated experience in pathology and/or PC1/PC2 microbiology laboratory environments
  • Strong practical skills in specimen preparation, microbiological culture handling and laboratory equipment operation
  • Sound knowledge of WHS, biosecurity and laboratory compliance requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team

Your opportunity is:

Full-time, continuing (permanent) with part time options negotiable.Located at Lismore, NSW 2480. Relocation assistance is available, making it easier to join our regional communities.HEW Level 5. The base salary ranges from $83,563 – $92,857 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $108,643.
