Communications and Events Officer

Your next career opportunity

As the Communications and Events Officer at the University of Melbourne Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, you'll play a crucial role in amplifying the Centre's vision to accelerate Indigenous leadership in health. You'll develop and implement strategic communications initiatives that support program delivery and build the Centre's profile both internally and externally. This position offers you the chance to contribute to Indigenous development in Australia through innovative marketing, digital engagement, and event management.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Communication Strategies: Work with the Director to create and manage the Centre's communications and marketing plans.
  • Manage Digital Presence: Oversee the Centre's online profile, including social media, e-newsletters, and website content.
  • Coordinate Impactful Events: Collaborate with Program Leads to organize workshops, webinars, and recruitment activities.
  • Ensure Cultural Relevance: Implement communications that use culturally appropriate language and support Indigenous relational engagement.
  • Build Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain connections with University staff and external partners.

You are a dynamic communications professional with a passion for Indigenous health and education, demonstrating excellent project management skills and a deep understanding of culturally appropriate engagement strategies.

You may also:

  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or have equivalent experience.
  • Possess significant experience in communications and marketing, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of effective marketing communication tools and strategies.
  • Have experience with creative software suites and social media management.
  • Show excellent written communication skills and event management experience.
  • Possess a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous communities and cultures.
  • Exhibit the ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Have high-level problem-solving skills and proficiency in standard application software.
